Mount Jackson

August 8, 2004

Mount Jackson (4,052 feet) is the most southerly, and lowest, of the presidential 4,000 footers. We hiked the Webster-Jackson trail which starts at the north end of Crawford Notch on Rt. 302. It was 5.2 miles round trip, with 2,150 feet of elevation gain. It took us 6 hours and 30 minutes.

Ready to go.
(Note: That's Webster in the
background, not Jackson.)
Let's get going already!

The kids summitting,
ahead of the adults...again!

Paul on his final ascent.

Look Paul, I can do it
without hands!

Whew! I made it.
Just give me a second.
(Looking east.)
Top of the world.
(Looking north with
Washinton in the clouds.)
Lunch time!

The whole gang!
(Looking north.)

Last half of descent was in the rain.
(Note the rain coats and dry hair.)

But it stopped just as we finished.
(Note the lack of rain coats and wet hair.)
