Plymouth, MA

January 2003

Instead of exchanging Christmas gifts with our friends, Lisa and Mark, and their sons Eric and Sean, we plan an annual weekend get-away in January. This year it was to Plymouth, MA. Not because it's an historic town, but because the John Carver Inn has an 80 foot water slide! And the hot tub ain't bad either!

It's also a chance to celebrate the kid's birthdays.
Eric turned 9 in December. Sean turned 5 in December. Abby turns 8 in April.
Maggie turns 10 in February.

I guess you can't go to historic Plymouth without seeing the sites. After almost two weeks of below freezing temps, it was nice to have the warmth of a 36 degree day! So we decide to do our sightseeing on foot. It was only a short walk to the shore to see the ROCK!
We're getting close... Just a little bit futher... Ooooohhh....Aaaaahhh!!!

What was even more amazing was seeing Plymouth Bay totally frozen! This usually doesn't happen, but as I said it's been cold. The Mayflower II couldn't have sailed, even if she was capable.
A local fishing boat sank a few days earlier. We got to see the salvage crew at work.

Then it was back to the hotel for some more fun on the water slide.

Followed by drinks and games for the adults...   ...and for the exhausted kids it was off to dreamland.
(Would you believe that neither Maggie or Abby like this picture? I guess it's not just adults who don't like their picture taken while sleeping.)
